But what if you could turn that passion into a side hustle, generating extra income while doing something you love? Here’s some tips to help you transform your hobbies into a profitable venture. 1. Identify Your Marketable Skills The first step is to assess which of your hobbies have the potential to generate income. Consider the following: Demand: Is there a market for your hobby? Think about things like handmade crafts, baked goods, or personalized artwork—people love these kinds of unique, creative products, especially around the holidays. I’ll Take an Order of Business Casual With a Side of Personality

In the realm of corporate America, navigating the delicate balance between professional attire and personal style can sometimes feel like walking a tightrope. However, it's entirely possible to inject your sense of fashion while still exuding a sense of sophistication and professionalism.

Gone are the days of stiff, cookie-cutter suits dominating the office landscape. Today, there's more room for self-expression, allowing individuals to showcase their unique personality through their wardrobe choices.

Keep in mind, it's essential to tread carefully, ensuring that your fashion statements remain appropriate for the workplace. If you find yourself wondering if that pleated skirt is too short, you probably shouldn’t wear it.

6 ways to showcase your personal style while keeping it professional in the workplace:

1.Tailored Pieces with a Twist:

Invest in well-fitted, tailored pieces that form the foundation of your corporate wardrobe. A perfectly cut blazer or a sleek pencil skirt can serve as the canvas for your edgy additions. Look for subtle twists such as asymmetric cuts, unexpected textures, or bold patterns to add a touch of individuality.

My personal favorite: A rock band t-shirt under a tailored blazer with jeans (no holes) and a pair of stilettos. This outfit is oozing with “i’m cool” vibes while remaining professional.

2. Statement Accessories:

Accessories are the perfect way to inject personality into your corporate ensemble. Opt for statement pieces such as chunky jewelry, bold belts, or standout handbags to elevate your look. However, remember the golden rule of accessorizing: less is often more. Choose one statement piece to be the focal point of your outfit and keep the rest of your accessories understated.

My personal favorite: A spiky necklace paired with a soft colored top. The perfect reflection of

my dark feminine energy.

3. Mixing Textures and Fabrics:

Experiment with mixing different textures and fabrics to add depth and visual interest to your outfit. Pair a structured blazer with a silk blouse or layer a leather jacket over a tailored dress. The juxtaposition of soft and hard elements creates a sophisticated yet edgy aesthetic.

My personal favorite: A chunky knit sweater with leather pants. Be warned: this outfit is not meant for warm weather, but if your work is anything like mine, it’s freezing 24/7.

4. Play with Color:

While the corporate world often gravitates towards neutral hues, don't be afraid to incorporate pops of color into your wardrobe. Opt for rich jewel tones or vibrant shades that complement your skin tone and add a sense of vitality to your look. Just don’t over do it; less is more here.

My personal favorite: A neon yellow top under a black blazer– paired with slacks and a nude pump.

5. Footwear with Flair:

Your choice of footwear can make a significant impact on your overall look. People look down more than you think. Swap out traditional pumps for sleek ankle boots, pointed-toe flats, or statement heels with interesting details. Not only do stylish shoes add a touch of edge to your outfit, but they also showcase your attention to detail.

My personal favorite: Combat boots. Need I say more?

6. Confidence is Key:

Ultimately, the most important accessory you can wear

is confidence. Own your style choices with conviction,

and let your confidence shine through in every

interaction. When you feel good about what you're

wearing, it translates into how you carry yourself,

leaving a lasting impression.

Expressing your sense of fashion in corporate America

doesn't have to mean sacrificing personal style for

conformity. By incorporating elements of edge into your

wardrobe in a thoughtful and deliberate manner, you

can strike the perfect balance between professionalism

and self-expression. Remember, it's not just about what

you wear, but how you wear it that makes all the

difference. So go ahead, embrace your individuality and

make a stylish statement in the boardroom!
